Dramatic Coloratura Soprano, Melissa Mallory, is making a name for herself as a dramatic and musical singing actress known for her wide range of emotional expression. Ms. Mallory’s voice is both polished and refined. Along with the technical excellence she brings to the production, her voice is warm, vibrant, and rich with emotion and feeling of her role.
Ms. Mallory made her leading artist debut with Verismo Opera in La Boheme as Mimi and has since returned to sing the roles of Butterfly in Madama Butterfly, Giorgetta from Il Tabarro, Leonora from Il Trovatore, Nedda from I Pagliacci, and Tosca from Tosca with Verismo Opera. The Benicia Times Herald said of her performance as Mimi, “In a performance last Saturday, Melissa Mallory owned the role of Mimi...”Ms. Mallory can also be seen singing with the First Street Opera Singers at Caffe Frascati in San Jose. Other opera companies she has performed with are Opera San Jose, West Bay Opera, and Livermore Valley Opera.
Ms. Mallory graduated cum laude with a B.M. from San Jose State University. She was Treasurer and Social Chair of her local chapter of Mu Phi Epsilon and received a scholarship from the Opera Workshop program. Ms. Mallory is very excited to be pursuing lead and comprimario roles which lean on the more dramatic end of the Soprano spectrum. Some suggested roles would be: Fiordiligi from Cosi fan Tutte, Leonora from Il Trovatore, Lucia from Lucia di Lammermoor, Donna Anna from Don Giovanni, Anne from Rake’s Progress, Electra from Idomeneo, etc.
